AMADI’S REPRESENTATIVES TAKE HIS MESSAGE TO OWERRI NORTH, OWERRI WEST WOMEN

Representatives of Dr Chima Matthew Amadi, led by Hon. Henry Onwukwe, have continued their engagement with women across Owerri Zone, attending the annual August meetings of women in Owaala, Uratta, Owerri North, and the Umuelem Welfare Association Women in Ihiagwa, Owerri West.

At Owaala, Uratta, the women leader appealed for support towards the completion of their ultra-modern community hall, which she said would serve multiple purposes for the community.

Speaking on behalf of Dr. Chima Amadi, Hon. Henry Onwukwe expressed regret that the candidate could not attend the meeting personally due to unforeseen circumstances, assuring the women that Dr. Amadi would make time to visit them.

He urged the women to support Dr. Amadi, popularly known as Mazi Gburugburu, in the January 16, 2027 senatorial election, expressing confidence that their support would help make him the next senator representing Owerri Zone.

Onwukwe also urged the women to take the message to their families, friends, neighbours and others who were not present at the meeting, stressing the importance of collective support for a new direction in the zone.

He noted that various local governments in Owerri Zone had produced senators over the years, pointing out that Ngor Okpala was yet to produce a senator representing the zone. He, however, stressed that Dr. Amadi’s candidacy was not based merely on his origin from Ngor Okpala, but on what he described as his capacity, competence and suitability to represent the entire zone.

According to him, Dr. Amadi stands out among the candidates seeking to represent Owerri Zone and has the capacity to provide effective representation.

On behalf of Dr. Amadi, Hon. Onwukwe announced a donation of ₦1 million to support the women’s community hall project.

The team subsequently moved to Ihiagwa, Owerri West, where they represented Dr. Amadi at the August meeting of the Umuelem Welfare Association Women.

Addressing the women, Onwukwe encouraged them to remain with Dr. Amadi through the ballot in the January 16, 2027 senatorial election and subsequently during the November 2027 governorship election.

During the engagement, the presence of individuals identified with the current political establishment reportedly generated an uproar among some members of the gathering. The individuals were subsequently booed out of the venue, in a development that underscored the strong political sentiments expressed by some of the women in support of the Action Peoples Party.

Onwukwe praised the women for their reaction, describing it as an indication of their desire for change and dissatisfaction with the current political establishment. He reiterated the need for the women to use their votes to determine the kind of leadership they want.

He thereafter announced a ₦3 million donation on behalf of Dr. Chima Amadi to support the projects of the women.

The two engagements formed part of Dr. Amadi’s broader August meeting outreach across communities in Owerri Zone, where he has continued to engage women and community stakeholders ahead of the 2027 elections.
