DR CHIMA MATTHEW AMADI SEEKS ROYAL BLESSINGS, RALLIES OBIZI COMMUNITY AHEAD OF 2027 SENATE RACE

Dr Chima Matthew Amadi has continued his grassroots consultations ahead of the 2027 elections with a visit to Obizi in Ezinihitte, Mbaise, Imo State, where he sought the blessings of traditional rulers and community leaders for his senatorial ambition.

At the palace of Eze Barrister Stephen Azubuine, Obizie V, the traditional ruler of Obizi, Dr Amadi was warmly received by members of the royal cabinet and community stakeholders. Introducing the cabinet members, Chief Chimaroke Abba (Omezirimba) recalled that the kingdom had honoured Dr Amadi with the chieftaincy title “Nwanne Di na Mba” last year in recognition of his contributions and relationship with the community.

Responding, Dr Amadi described the title as the only traditional title he has ever accepted, noting that Obizi holds a special emotional place in his heart. “Obizi is sentimental to me,” he said. “As a son of this land, I came to inform my fathers that I am on a mission.”

The APP senatorial candidate lamented what he described as years of neglect of the area by successive governments, pointing specifically to the poor condition of the road leading to the ancient stool of the kingdom.

“It has been a long time since the government abandoned our area,” he said. “Our people have suffered, and the road to this ancient stool is deplorable. It should not be so.”

Dr Amadi formally announced that he is contesting for the Owerri Zone Senate seat under the Action People’s Party (APP), describing the move as the beginning of a journey he believes will end in victory.

“This is the first journey, and we will win,” he declared. “I cannot begin this journey without the blessings of my fathers and my people.”

He added that he feels privileged to have roots in both Ngor Okpala and Mbaise, two prominent areas in Imo State, and thanked the royal fathers and the people of Obizi for their continued support and goodwill.

“When I get there, I will make you proud,” he assured them.

In his response, Eze Stephen Azubuine, Obizie V, pledged the support and blessings of the traditional institution. “We, the kings, will gladly and wholeheartedly give you our blessings,” the monarch said. “It shall be well with you, and we are solidly behind you.”

Hon. Henry Onwukwe also thanked the royal fathers and the people for standing by Dr Amadi and for the various forms of support they have continued to extend to him.

After the palace visit, Dr Amadi proceeded to the residence of the President General of Obizi, where he addressed a large gathering of residents and supporters. Speaking to the crowd, he announced that his political movement had officially moved into the APP and urged the people to prepare seriously for the coming elections.

“The movement has started,” he said. “Our opponents are not preparing for an election; they are relying on other means. Our people must stand their ground, because if we do not, the next four years will be drastic.”

He argued that poverty in Imo State has deepened because of poor governance and insisted that responsible leadership could improve the economic condition of ordinary citizens.

“Over the years, people are getting poorer because of the way the government is handling the state,” he said. “If the government does what it is meant to do, poverty levels will reduce.”

Dr Amadi urged voters to support candidates with the capacity to move the state forward and called on them to protect the integrity of their votes.

“Vote for those who can lead you forward,” he told the gathering. “Defend your votes and wait until they are counted and declared.”
