DR CHIMA MATTHEW AMADI TAKES AUGUST MEETINGS BY STORM, DONATES MILLIONS TO WOMEN’S PROJECTS

The Imo East (Owerri Zone) Senatorial candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Dr Chima Matthew Amadi, popularly known as Mazi Gburuguru, on Tuesday continued his August meeting engagements across communities in Imo State, combining interaction with women and community stakeholders with substantial financial support for individuals and community projects.

Dr Amadi began the day with a major gesture to the State Woman Leader, Mrs Chukwu Nneka, presenting her with a brand-new car in recognition of her dedication, loyalty, commitment and tireless service to the movement.

Members of the movement described the gesture as a well-deserved recognition of the State Woman Leader's contributions and consistent support for the organisation.

From there, Dr Amadi proceeded to Ahiara in Ahiazu Mbaise, where he joined women gathered for their August meeting at St Joseph Catholic Parish, Otulu Ahiara.

While introducing Dr Amadi, Hon Henry Onwukwe highlighted his intellectual capacity, leadership qualities and competence, describing him as the most preferred candidate for the Owerri Zone senatorial seat in the forthcoming election.

Addressing the women, Dr Amadi commended them for their organisation and the importance they attach to their annual August meetings. He, however, used the opportunity to speak about the challenges confronting Imo State, particularly the condition of education, healthcare and infrastructure.

He expressed concern over what he described as the poor state of development across the state, promising that if the people entrust him with their mandate, he would work towards a turnaround in the fortunes of the state.

Dr Amadi also told the gathering that, having received the people's mandate, he would remain committed to delivering on his promises and would not allow himself to be distracted from the responsibility entrusted to him.

As part of his support for the event, he called on members of his entourage to contribute whatever they could towards supporting the Queen of the event. He personally supported the Queen with ₦500,000.

He also donated ₦1.5 million to the women to share among themselves and another ₦5 million towards their community project.

The women expressed appreciation for the gestures and offered prayers for Dr Amadi, wishing him success in his political journey.

His next stop was the August meeting of women at St Mathias Catholic Church, Aguneze, Ahiara, Ahiazu Mbaise, where he was equally warmly received.

In her remarks, the President General of the women appreciated Dr Amadi for what she described as the numerous positive things he has been doing for people across Imo State.

Responding, Dr Amadi said he was always delighted to be in the midst of women, noting that he was raised and properly trained by a woman.

He spoke extensively about the sacrifices women make in raising families, providing for their households and supporting their communities, stressing that their contributions to society should never be taken for granted.

During the engagement, Dr Amadi came to the aid of a woman who needed medical assistance, donating ₦200,000 towards her medical bills.

He subsequently asked the gathering if there were others experiencing health challenges. After several women came forward, he spoke about the relationship between social conditions and the health challenges faced by ordinary citizens.

According to him, in a society where necessities and social services function properly, fewer people would be forced to struggle with preventable challenges.

He also urged the people to take elections seriously and stop exchanging their votes for insignificant financial inducements, stressing that their votes represent their power to determine the kind of leadership they receive.

Dr Amadi appealed to the women and other voters to exercise their constitutional rights by supporting competent leaders, assuring them that, if elected, he would not disappoint the people.

When the women leader disclosed that the women had been levying themselves to support the development of their health centre, Dr Amadi asked her to stop placing the burden on the women and immediately offered to settle the levy.

He donated ₦3 million towards the women's health centre project.

The women again expressed their gratitude and offered prayers for Dr Amadi, praying for his success in the forthcoming election.

The engagement continued at the community hall in Logara, Ngor Okpala, where Dr Amadi met with women at their August meeting.

The women made a passionate appeal concerning their health centre, explaining that they had only recently laid its foundation after making efforts to complete some shop buildings within the community.

The situation, they noted, had left members of the community relying largely on their own resources to provide basic infrastructure that should ordinarily receive greater institutional support.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Amadi recalled that women had been at the heart of his movement from its earliest days, describing them as resilient, committed and consistent supporters of his political journey.

He questioned how communities could continue to experience a lack of basic amenities despite the enormous public allocations that accrue to government, arguing that ordinary citizens should not be left to shoulder the responsibility of providing essential infrastructure through personal contributions.

Dr Amadi expressed concern that residents of Logara were having to lay the foundation and mobilise resources for a health centre themselves, stressing the need for a system that prioritises the welfare and development of the people.

In support of the community's health centre project, he donated ₦5 million.

The gathering also witnessed the defection of Hon Bibiana into the Action Peoples Party (APP). In welcoming her into the party, Dr Amadi presented her with a cash gift of ₦1 million.

Across the day's engagements, Dr Amadi's message remained centred on the need for better leadership, improved healthcare, stronger infrastructure, quality education and greater attention to the welfare of ordinary citizens.

Beyond the political conversations, the engagements also saw him provide direct financial assistance to individuals, women's groups and community projects, with his interventions cutting across healthcare, community development and support for grassroots initiatives.

For the women who gathered at the various August meetings, the day provided not only an opportunity to interact with a senatorial candidate, but also a platform to present their concerns and receive tangible support towards some of the challenges confronting their families and communities.
